Today, the 2nd of October, is a truly special day in the history of our country. On this day, India celebrates the birth anniversaries of two of its greatest leaders: Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Born in 1869, Mahatma Gandhi—affectionately known as Bapu—guided our nation to freedom from British rule through the noble principles of Ahimsa (Non-violence) and Satya (Truth). He proved to the world that wars do not need weapons, and injustice can be conquered through peace, moral courage, and self-discipline. Bapu reminded us, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

On this very same day in 1904, Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji, India’s second Prime Minister, was born. A personification of simplicity, honesty, and determination, Shastri Ji led the nation through challenging times during the 1965 war. He gave us the historic and inspiring slogan: “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan!”

International Literacy Day is an international observance celebrated each year on 8 September. It was declared by UNESCO on 26 October 1966 at the 14th session of UNESCO's General Conference and celebrated for the first time in 1967. The day's aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities, and societies. (Source - Wikipedia)
